Swimming success at Wellington champs

TWELVE Swimmers from the Stratford Flyers competed at the recent Wellington Regional Championships, held January 22-25 at Kirbirnies 50m Long Course Meet.
Matthew Anderson (11) won gold in 50m, 100m, 200m Backstroke, 50m, 100m,
200m Freestyle, Silver in 50m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle and Bronze in 200m
Individual Medley and 100m Butterfly. He broke three Taranaki records - 100m
Freestyle (1.06.24) previously held by Stratford’s Kara McPherson in 1996 (1.07.05);
200m Freestyle (2.24.92) previously held by Opunake’s Cale Karanga in 2008
(2.24.92) and 400 Freestyle (5.17.63) previously held by Opunake’s Brock Wilson in 2005 (5.20.39).
Brittany Taylor (10) won gold in 200m Backstroke, Silver in 50m, 200m Freestyle,
Bronze in 100m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 4th 50m Butterfly, 5th 100m
Backstroke, 6th 50m Backstroke.
Joellen Hughson-How (10) won Silver 200m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke, 4th 100m Freestyle, 5th 50m Backstroke, 6th 50m, 200m Freestyle, 7th 100m Backstroke,
200m Individual Medley, 50m Breaststroke, 8th 100m Breaststroke, 9th 50m Butterfly.
Tomas Arlidge (16) competed in the open age group
