STRATFORD Racing Club not only held another successful jump outs day on April 11 but was also informed that the club had retained its race date of December 31, 2010.
The club’s thanks go to the 2000 people of Stratford and surrounding areas who supported the application by signing the petition.
Te Kapua Park is not only used for equine purposes but utilized by The Walkers and Runners group, and St Mary’s School who hold their annual cross country there, as well as weddings etc.
The jump outs fielded 57 horses over 14 heats. Cindy of Fibre Fresh provided bags of feed to the ‘last’ placed horses and a prize for top rider and runner up was presented.
Alan Mason and his small band of volunteers again presented the course in top order. A visiting trainer remarked “it was the best damn jump outs he’d been to in Taranaki”.
A number of horses have since gone on to either win or place at their next start. The next date for jump outs will be May 16.
Weather permitting, further jump outs will be held on June 13, July 11 and August 8.
The bar and barbecue will be operating and members of the public are welcome to attend.
Results of April 11 are as follows:
Heat 1 600m.
