L’Ami wins bowling Gold Star

ON Saturday 22 players took part in the Taranaki Indoor bowls Open Singles. 
Qualifiers were Gary Stretton, Don Semple, Grant L’Ami, Gordon Hamley, Grant Harvey, Mike Phipps, Dennis Behrent, Sue Bourne and Paul Midgley.  The semi final results were L’Ami 12, Harvey 11. Midgley 13, Phipps 9. In a great final L’Ami went on to beat Midgley 10–8.
L’Ami now holds the Kevin Boothby Trophy. This is the fifth Taranaki Title for L’Ami which earns him his Gold Star. 
Sue Bourne holds the G & J Hamley Trophy for the woman going the furtherest. Georgia Watt, being the Junior going the furtherest, holds the Waipipi Cup. The event was sponsored by Taranaki Farmers Mitre 10, Hawera. 
Last weekend our Representative Team travelled to Foxton to play in the NWWTH Quadrangular Tournament.  Taranaki played well winning with 139.5 points, North Wellington 128.5, Wanganui 91 and Horowhenua 73.
