Indoor bowls results

THE Taranaki Indoor Bowls Open Triples, sponsored by Central Aluminum of Stratford, were held in the Cardiff Hall on Sunday and 17 teams took part this year. 
Five games were played to find the seven qualifiers and they were: Jim Nickel, Don Semple, Lindsay Willis, John Zittersteijn, Rocky Adams, Tim Veale and Grant Harvey.  In the semifinal Zittersteijn, Mark and Sean Ridley beat Tim Veale, Kim Mahupuku and Gerogia Watt. Harvey, Paul and Christine Midgley beat Willis, Mark McDonald and Beryl Willis. 
The final was a close game with Harvey taking the lead. Zittersteijn came back and the score was tied after the final end. An extra end was played and the game could have gone either way. Zittersteijn had the last bowl and unfortunately for his team it went too far.  This gave Grant Harvey his first Taranaki Title.
The Taranaki Open pairs has also been played recently and Don Semple and Jenny Hamley won this event. Ray Finlay and Rocky Adams were runners-up. Third equal was Grant L’Ami and Ken Smith and Colleen Reynish and Barry Cadman.
The Championship Fours have also been played, this year in the Normanby Hall. The Stratford Team of Dennis Behrent, Noel Thompson, Bari Olliver and Jesse Langton were the winners.
