DESPITE a lengthy delay to the start, because of heavy frost, the 2010 Men’s Club Championships were completed at the course last Sunday with a new senior champion being crowned at the end of the day.
Defending champion Michael Boland took an early lead in the 36 hole final, before rival Jaron Otene fought back to draw level at the end of the morning round. Otene took the lead early in the second round and held on to score a comfortable 4 and 3 win.
John Durdle successfully defended his intermediate title with his win over Jason Rossiter, giving him three titles in a row. Durdle held the lead throughout his match,  as did Paul Daymond in the junior final, who extended his morning round lead to win in a landslide against John Smith and gain his first championship title.
Roger Lawrence scored a 3 and 2 win over Mid Rocard in the Limit championship final in an absorbing match.
Matches in the Ramsay Young and Probyn Pewters will be played over the next two weeks before the commencement of the Strokeplay Champs.
There will be a haggle for all other golfers.
