Youth volunteers' efforts honoured

Mayor Neil Volzke with Savarna Pease, Josh Sheed and Shaymas Carroll who were recognised for their volunteer work in the local community at Stratford District Council's Youth Volunteers' movie night held last Monday.

Also recognised, but not present on the night, were Astyn Buckland and Alexis Marriner.

All five young people were nominated by members of the community who believed they deserved recognition for their volunteer work. Youth councillor Shayna Hareb says, 'It is great to see so many young people volunteer in our community.'

She says the movie night was put together to thank the people in the community who 'make our community tick' and that it included both young people who give their time volunteering to various projects, along with older people in the community who work with young people.

All 65 people who attended the movie night had their names put forward by a group, school or organisation for which they volunteer.
