STRATFORD youth Ryk Fergusson had outstanding success last week, winning the Under 14 North Grand Prix Junior Tennis Tournament.

Held at New Plymouth's Pukekura Tennis Club on Tuesday, January 20, Ryk won five matches to secure his place in the finals.

To add to the challenge Ryk faced his brother Tom in the final match, but easily won the game 6-3, 6-1.

For his brilliant efforts Ryk won a Wilson Tennis Bag and has accumulated points for his overall ratings.

Ryk said he liked tennis because it is an individual sport, which enables him to make all the choices.

"I started played tennis about three years ago and really like it. My next goal is to beat my dad at a game."
