Nebulite Taranaki Flyers Stratford Club was again in record-breaking mode at the Long Course Junior Champs and club relay night at the Hawera pool on Saturday.

Joshua Gilbert added another record to his name in the 1500m freestyle for 11-year boys. With a time of 20.22.24, he beat the record of 21.00.19, set by Opunake's Jackson Arlidge in 2003. The Stratford team set a new record in winning the 8x50m mixed 9-14-year relay in a time of 4.22.57, breaking the 4.24.33 record set by the club in 1994. The team comprised Chris Johnson (12), Claudia Taylor (11), Brittany Taylor (14), Joshua Gilbert (11), Matthew Anderson (12), Eleanor Gilbert (9) and Baillee Drummond (12) (pictured). Luca Zabel (9) is absent from the photo. The squad has 14 swimmers who have qualified for the National Age Group Junior championships in Wellington on February 16-17.
