COACHES at the Region Assessment Days.
TEN TARANAKI Swim coaches were upgrading their coaching skills along with 26 young swimmers aged between 9-12 years in Stratford on Sunday.
This is the first of two days of the three Region Assessment Days to be held, the next in November to evaluate the progress of the coaches and swimmers alike.
These assessment days are a requirement of Swimming New Zealand to implement the ever changing coaching and training skills to assist swimmers to be the best they can be.
Swimmers now are getting more highly skilled and records at all levels are being slashed around the world.
Now with the top coaches coming to New Zealand to pass on the their knowledge and training programmes to our coaches we are in a good position to advance coaching and swimming in Taranaki.
New Zealand Elite Coaches- Sue Southgate from Aquablades Bell Block and Clive Wheeler Mountain Motors Flyers Stratford were the tutors for the day assisted by guest swimmers Dylan Dunlop-Barrett and Rebecca Johnston. All four having attended an advanced training camp over Queens Birthday weekend at Bell Block.
Swimming Stratford is to be commended on their consistent support of swimming in Taranaki supplying their club rooms and resources for these important training days.
