AFTER just two games, the 2008 Dean Cup competition is over. Strathmore toppled Whangamomona 21-10 in miserable conditions at Toko on Sunday to reclaim their title.

Whangamomona was the last line of defence in an attempt to strip the 2007 champions of glory - a fortnight prior to the deciding game, Strathmore took Toko out of contention for the Cup.

Tries went to Isaac Radich, Andrew Tonks and Fabian Rupapera of Strathmore and Nathan Cleaver was the only man to cross the line for Whangamomona.

Strathmore captain, Ryan McDonald, was happy with the teams 2008 campaign. "We were stoked to wrap the cup up after two games, although the games were still as tough and physical as they always are.

The team was motivated to win and I guess it all came together on the day.

We were also able to give five of the guys their first starting cap for 'Team Green' this season, so things are looking good for the future."
