WITH only a few more weeks left things are starting to heat up on the volleyball courts.
In the A Grade, five teams are in with a shot of making the playoffs with one game in the round robin left.
The club end of season function and prizegiving is on the August 14 at the TET Multisports Centre. Please keep this night free.
The Taranaki Club Championships are coming up next month.
Any men or women interested in playing, please see a committee member on Sunday night. There are practices every Monday night at 7pm.
Results
Taranaki Farmers B and C Grades
All Stars started very slowly in their game against Fire Rescue. After getting thrashed in the first two sets, they only just lost the third, then won the fourth, but unfortunately lost the game 4-1.
Bob kept one hand on the Moore Cup with a 3-2 win over Boys and Girls.
Cranky Yankees and Wot If showed they are favourites to win the C Grade, scoring five consecutive wins against Duck or Bleed and All Inn.
After winning their first game last week, All Sorts showed that they are improving and they still hold the Digby Cup with a 5-0 win over Whipbacks.
Lobbs Plumbing A Grade
Nads had the double header this week. After struggling to find a team in their first game (which they lost 4-0 to Egmont Rodders) Nads then defaulted their next game against NPBHS. Unfortunately for NPBHS they couldn’t get enough players either so there was a double default.
Headhunters carried on their charge for the playoffs with a 2-1 win over fossils.
For the first time in a number of years Swahoah and Lobbs Mob fought out a one-all draw.
Games to watch this week: Fossils v Lobbs Mob. The winner to progress to the major semifinal against Swahoah the following week. Egmont Rodders v Headhunters.
The winner will not only move into fourth place and the semi-finals, but also will get their name engraved on the Blain Cup.
