Total fire ban still in place in Stratford
The Stratford District will not follow suit on South Taranaki's total fire ban, announced last week, but the situation is being closely monitored.
South Taranaki's fire ban remains until further notice. All fires, except gas-fired barbecues, are prohibited.
"All residents need to be aware that if they light a fire, the full costs of extinguishing these fires will be charged to the property owner. The whole district is very, very dry, says rural fire officer John Gunn.
