Stratford Swimming Club excels at champs | Taranaki Sport | Surfing, Rugby, Soccer, Football, Cricket in Taranaki

Stratford ASC members Rebecca Johnston (14), David Walsh (13), Adrian Pitman (13), Sarah Cooper (12), Alicia Jamieson (10), Julian Weir (10), Ryan Cooper (10) competed at Wellington Championships held at Kilbirnie 50 metre pool from January 19-22.

These swimmers broke a Taranaki record, qualified for national events and swam personal best times. Julian Weir won Champion 10yr Old Boy of the meet. Julian broke the Taranaki record in 50m Backstroke in a new time of 34.94; previous time was 36.10 held by J Arlidge - Opunake.

Julian won gold in 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke; Silver in 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle.

Rebecca Johnston won Gold in 50m Backstroke, Silver in 100m Butterfly, 200m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, Bronze in 200m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle.

Adrian Pitman won Gold in 200m Backstroke and Bronze in 100m Backstroke.

Alicia Jamieson won Bronze in 200m Breaststroke. Ryan Cooper won Bronze in 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke.

Sarah Cooper and David Walsh achieved 100% personal best times in all their events.
