Remembering how successful and popular previous dinner-concerts have been for the choir, it was decided that another one was long overdue.

The Dinner Concert 'Puttin' on the Ritz' will be held on Saturday October 28 at Stratford's War Memorial Centre, in the supper lounge. The theme of the evening is music from the 1920s, 1930s and even a couple of songs from the 1940s, featuring great composers such as Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Jerome Kern and George and Ira Gershwin when songs had beautiful melodies, and the lyrics were witty and actually meant something.

We are hoping that, apart from providing good music and good food (two course evening meal), it will also be a fun evening. The choir will be in costume, and there are prizes for 'best flapper' and 'best toff' for anyone in the audience wishing to join in the fun and get dressed up.

Gabrielle Barr is the musical director, with Marina Roskilly at the piano. Mickie Mills has had the task of getting everyone into costume, and Betty Burgham has been in charge of organising catering and the venue.

Tickets are available from Stratford Information Centre and will be on sale from October 2. Only 80 seats are available due to the size of the supper room.
