Athletics was a very colourful event at St Mary?s this year.
This week has again been very busy. Our leaders' induction has taken place. This ceremony is very special as we induct all of our Year 13 to take up the challenge of leadership. Some of our students were asked to be leaders with special responsibilities. These included:
Head Girl: Heather Newlove; Deputy Head Girl: Anna Mansell; Head Week Boarder: Kimberly Stevenson; Head Full Boarder: Judith Stewart; Sacristan: Brooke Kempton; Sports Captain: Vanessa Radich; Deputy Sports Captain: Anita Oliver; Arts Captain: Toni Wellington; Deputy Arts Captain: Danielle Hendrix.
The revival of the tradition of Pancake Day which signalled the beginning of Lent was organised by the Year 13 students who made all the pancakes and organised all the races. No one will look at pancakes in the same way again.
Athletics was another colourful event. A lot of effort was made both off the field and on. All students made huge efforts to wear their house colours in often unusual ways. A big effort was also made on the field. We are still waiting for final results, but I hear that things look very good for Fleming.
On the weekend the school was busy with a garden party and fundraising at the National Athletics Championships. Our Year 11 PE students acted as officials at this event and had a very informative and exhausting weekend.
All the photos were taken by Stacy Hendrix, our school photographer.
