The Inglewood Primary School 1st XI cricket team proved you don't have to be from a big city to make it big in the sporting world.

The team arrived home runner-up at the National Primary Schools Twenty/20 Cricket Championship, and
are proud of their efforts.

``It's a good feeling. I'm so proud of the boys,'' says team captain Tyla Judson.

Although Tauranga won the tournament, Tyla says the team did the province proud. ``We lost to Tauranga
by quite a bit, but we won the other games convincingly.''

The team started their final series strongly, beating Heaton Intermediate by eight wickets. Inglewood's Luke
Dravitzki was an outstanding team member, making 32 runs from 37 deliveries.

Tauranga Intermediate were just too strong on the day for Inglewood - Inglewood falling 50 runs short of Tauranga's 122.

Cody Chilcott bowled a hat trick against their second place play-off side, Ellesmere College, for 67 in the 18th and
second last over.

Cody impressed the team, bowling eight out over the whole tournament.

``They are a good bunch of boys,'' says Inglewood teacher-coach, Ngatai Walker.

``They always have a really good attitude.''

All of the team members, except Luke Brown, play for the local Inglewood Cricket Club.

Ngatai thanks parents, the community and the Ken Clarke Trust for their help and support.

Results of the playoffs: 1. Tauranga Intermediate 2. Inglewood Primary School 3. Ellesmere College 4. Heaton
Intermediate.
