Torrential rain, mud and tough opposition didn't dampen the spirits of the Stratford Senior 3rds Rugby team when they battled Bell Block in the season final at New Plymouth on Saturday.

Despite a shaky first half, with Bell Block up 3-0, Stratford revitalised for the second, running in three tries and taking the win 15-3.

Manager of the team, Sean Puttock, was stoked with their win.

"They were playing in pretty poor conditions, it was a mudbath out there and after a bit of a rough first half, the boys really turned it on to seal the game. The whole team put in a huge effort to win the final, but they were all very happy to have a nice hot shower afterwards. They thoroughly deserved to be in the final this year and the win was a credit to the work they have put in over the past season."
