School athletics: St Mary's Diocesan

St Mary's Diocesan celebrated their athletics day.
St Mary's Diocesan celebrated their athletics day.

The sun was out and so were the St Mary's school houses for their annual school athletics. This year the event was held on a Sunday, one of the main reasons being to make it more family orientated. Principal Fiona Green says the school understands that most families have other commitments during the week. "This year though, was the complete opposite. There was a fantastic turn out!"

The house captains could not have been more proud of the girls in their houses. Roberton (blue) house captain Lillian Schumacher says she loves seeing all the girls attempting the field events. At the end of the day there was a new first ... Wilson (green) house winning the house relay. It was a close win with Fleming (red) coming in second, followed by Stanford (yellow) and Roberton (blue).

Casey, a student of St Mary's Diocesan, is an aspiring journalist and will be writing for the Stratford Press as a student reporter.
