Students and staff at Stratford Rainbow Early Childhood Centre held a practice earthquake drill in readiness for their participation in the ShakeOut on September 26.

Tesh Petroz, a staff member at Stratford Rainbow, saw the ShakeOut advertised and signed the centre up to participate because "the children need to know what to do so they aren't scared in a real earthquake"'.

Nicole Fale, Ethan Perrett and Timothy Johnson demonstrate how to drop, cover, hold in case of an earthquake.

With just a week to go before the world-first nationwide earthquake drill, ShakeOut, Taranaki Regional Council's emergency management officer Lynsey Wilcox says staff are "very busy" visiting schools and businesses helping with practice drills and checking emergency measures.
