EX-STRATFORD girl Paula Parore was announced runner-up in the Perth Star singing competition last week, but ask any of her colleagues at Joondalup Health Campus and they will say she is number one.
Paula has been performing in the Perth Star competition every week since February this year and managed to beat hundreds of other contestants to make it into the grand final.
The crowd of Joondalup Health Campus supporters went wild for Paula’s final Perth Star performance for the sold out show at the Subiaco Arts Centre.
Paula said she was proud of herself for reaching second place and felt lucky to have had such a fantastic opportunity.
“I have had the most amazing ride of my life and this is definitely not the end for me,” she said.
“I have so much more to give and I believe my time to shine will come very soon.”
Paula said she had already been offered many opportunities to advance her singing career.
“I will be singing at Telethon this year with a fellow Perth Star contestant and am working on recording some of my original songs,” she said.
“I also work with the hospital band Side Effex, who are getting busier and busier every week with bookings.”
Coogee resident and WAAPA student Chantal Sousa was the winner of the Perth Star competition.
“Although I came second I have been approached by numerous record producers wanting to sign me, and have been offered a camera crew to record my own video for my original song I wrote and sang in the grand final.
“Also I have been asked to tour Asia with one of the judges, Sonja D’Anne. Which is an amazing opportunity.
“I was receiving free clothing from boutique 88 and they have just begun a modelling agency and have asked me to be their first model on their books. Their agency is for real woman with curves, all shapes, sizes, ages and races.
“I have a professional make up shoot this Wednesday and today tonight from Channel 7 in Perth are filming this whole episode.
“So coming second has been well worth it,” she added.
