Mountain Motors Flyers Swim Squad had five swimmers competing at the national junior championships held in Wellington over the weekend, recording personal best times. Stratford club's Julian Weir's performance at the meet in the 10yr boys events was outstanding, swimming personal best times in all his nine events and winning four gold medals and two bronze medals.

50m breaststroke 41.75, Taranaki record, lowering Sean Parker's record (Highlands) of 41.75.
He was placed 4th in the 200m medley and 5th in the 100m and 200m freestyle.
Club-mate, 10yr old Ryan Cooper, improved his national rankings to finish 7th in the 100m and 200m backstroke when ranked 17th 100m Backstroke and 10th 200m backstroke.
Dylan Arlidge, 10yrs, was 8th in the 100m breaststroke and 9th in the 200m breastsroke.
Cale Karanga, 10yrs, had a good meet, winning his heat in the 50m freestyle in 34.51 sec.
Alicia Jamieson, 11yrs, was close to her entry times in the 100m & 200m breaststroke.
