The 2010 winner of the Taranaki Rose of Tralee pageant is Anna Mills.
At the Rose Ball held at the Stratford War Memorial Hall Centre on Saturday, 25-year-old Anna was crowned ‘Rose of Tralee,’ beating four contenders for the title in her second year as a competitor.
Anna was raised in South Taranaki, with her Irish ancestry coming from her mother’s side: her grandfather was from Ireland, as were four great-great grandparents. She presently works in New Plymouth.
Anna will now represent Taranaki at the New Zealand final on June 5 in Invercargill.
“We have had four Taranaki women win the New Zealand title, the last time was in 1994,” says competition spokesperson, Louise Buhler.
“The New Zealand winner will compete for the World title in August at the Festival of Kerry in Tralee, Ireland.”
