Silver Jets competitive swimmers with Brick Mathieson of TET.
Silver Jets Swim Squad and coach Sue Stannard thank the Taranaki Electricity Trust for its support and the wonderful grant that allowed the squad to put the competitive squad into team uniforms.
The squad began competing just one year ago and has achieved amazing results, said Sue.
"All have continuously achieved personal best times and were well-represented and successful at swimming Taranaki's summer champs held in Hawera."
The started the 2007/08 season with great success and personal best times were achieved by Elysse Milne, Sophie Milne, Brittany Kivell, Dyana Kivell, Josh Hunger, Grace Hunger, Berme Jordaan, Rhiannon Stannard, Natasha Brown, Laureen Cox and Sarah Rohe at the Stratford Club winter meet.
They also qualified to swim the Taranaki winter champs, which will be held on August 25 and 26 at the TSB pool.
"Congratulations to all our swimmers," said Sue.
Silver Jets also thanked Gernhoefer Contractors of Eltham for their sponsorship.
The Silver Jets Learn to Swim programme began this month. Swim instructors Jackie Berry, Pearl Giles, Pauline Rogers and Sue have been kept busy, and hoped for the same success that the Silver Jet swim squad has achieved.
Sue welcomed all swimmers and said the response was wonderful.
"It's great to see so many children learning to swim." She said a child could learn to swim at any age.
"Swimming brings skills for life and with it comes focus, self discipline and fun. We look forward to the new Silver Jets who wish to join the competitive squad."
Sue said there were some who had already trained hard toward getting into the squad, and she looked forward to transferring (them) once they reached the level.
