Okaiawa Community Preschool children are excited about their new premises at Matapu School.

The purpose-built preschool by the Ministry of Education offers more space, a safe environment, new equipment and the chance to interact with Matapu School.

This is exactly what the preschool did last Thursday, when they invited the school's new entrant pupils for a day of fun and games.

More than 30 children spent the day learning about pirates, playing games, painting, reading, making crafts and baking yummy goodies.

As well as learning about pirates the children are focusing on super heroes and cooking.

Head teacher Debbie Tosland said the move has been great and the transition days with Matapu School will be a huge benefit for the four-year-olds.

The preschool currently boasts an impressive roll of 40 children.

Helping Debbie is Jackie Sharpe and Arlene (Darling) Woodhead.

Due to the change of location the preschool is currently in consultation with parents/family and the community about whether or not the preschool should change its name. Once a name has been finalised the preschool will hold an official opening.

The preschool would like to thank Taranaki By Products for donating $1800 to buy new inside furniture.
