Netball heroes all set for 2010 | Taranaki Sport | Surfing, Rugby, Soccer, Football, Cricket in Taranaki

ALANA Robins and Sonya Drummond coach the Prem team this year. This is their second year running.
We once again have our trusty manager, Gordon Astwood.

There is a mixture of new and old players - returning from last season are Nadine Smith-Moore, Margi Hiri and Ally Campbell. Abbie Edwards and Rae Hancock are returning after having a season off and new to the team are Rachel Wilcock, Stacey Weir, Rochelle Ngatai, Felicity Hughes, Vanessa Paki Paki and Kelly Bishop.Captain is Rae and vice is Nadine.
Competition starts on April with a five-week round of ‘Fast net’ - a new style of netball which gives shooters the opportunity to shoot from outside the circle, you can choose a quarter to have a power play where goals scored are worth double and substitutions are rolling.
Fast net will be played with Prem 1 & 2 grades all in the same pool. After the completion of ‘Fast net’ we will go two rounds of normal competition.
It is our goal to win our division and qualify to make Prem 1 next year.
We will be having a team-building day on 17th of April.Alana and Sonya have just had the opportunity to go on a defensive course with Wai Taumaunu and Yvonne Willering, and spent a weekend recently on a coaching workshop with Margaret Foster.
We hope to bring some new ideas into practice.
We are fundraising at present, so if anybody would like a trailer load of firewood we are selling it for $90 per load.
