KAPONGA School 2 Quik Netball Team.
KAPONGA School 2 Quik Netball Team had a very successful season last year.
The team won the Hurlstone Shield (interschool competition for rolls under 150 students), Totara Springs Netball cup (sports camp at Matamata against Waikato schools), Kissick/Eraio Netball tournament (Coastal Interschool tournament) and the Stratford Satellite Year 8 competition (Local satellite grade).
Five players: Siobhan, Tatiana, Temarnia, Johanna and Sarah were also part of the Steelformers Youth Team along with Karyn Brown and Julie Butler. The team was formed for the girls to experience stronger competition at club level.
This team won the Year 8 Elite Tournament in New Plymouth, the Suno Ngahinapouri Netball Tournament in Hamilton and were runners up at a representative tournament in Wanganui called the Skelsey Cup.
Siobhan and Tatiana were selected for the Year 8 Taranaki Team and Ngaiana was selected for the Year 7 Taranaki Team.
Siobhan was also named Taranaki Year 8 Player of the Year.
In the school prize giving Siobhan was named Most Valuable Player and Ngaiana the Most Improved, Temarnia was Most Valuable for the Hurlstone shield and Sarah was Most improved for the Hurlstone shield.
Fairplay awards were given to Sarah and Selina Padrutt.
The team would like to thank the Southern Trust for their new uniforms.
