Huinga Homebrew Festival a hit

Visitors to the Huinga Homebrew Festival  on the weekend lined up to try a variety of beers, meads, wines and even chutneys.

The winner of the overall prize at the weekend's Homebrew Festival at Huinga is Taranaki local Nick Jones, who won the opportunity to produce a 50 litre brew of his winning concoction. In addition, his brew will be considered for a commercial run of 1200 litres.

New Plymouth local Chauncy Ardell took out first place in both the people's and judge's choice categories for pilsner as well as the judge's choice for the lager and India pale ale categories.

Eltham local Will Riestook was the category winner for both people's and judge's choice with his golden ale, as well as the judge's choice for his dark ale.

The town of Huinga was well represented with locals Vaughan Wood, Naomi Te Para, Jan Cook and Lynette Woolasten all winning categories.
