Hockey hits town

Stratford was inundated with sportswomen last week when the Jenny Hair Cup Hockey Tournament hit town. Sixteen teams from all over the North Island gathered to battle it out in a bid to be named champion and heated games were played over five days.

St Mary's Diocesan School and the Stratford High School Girls 1st X1 were among the teams and both sides were faced with challenging games all week. In the end, a strong side from Mahurangi College in Auckland took out the tournament in a tough game against Havelock North High School.
