Mountain Motors Flyers Squad swimmers competed well at the Taranaki Short Course Winter Championships at the TSB Pool in Stratford over the weekend. Jackson Arlidge (15) broke the only record for the meet in lowering his own 50m backstroke time of 29.29 to 29.28.

Ashley Rupapera and Julian Weir of the Stratford club were the leading medal winners, with most of the squad making finals.

Ashley Rupapera 14yrs - 1st: Freestyle 50m, 100m, 200m; Breaststroke 50m, 100m, 200m; Medley 100m, 200m; Butterfly 50m, 100m; Backstroke 50m, 100m, 200m.

Julian Weir 10yrs - 1st: 50m Freestyle; 50m Butterfly; 50m Breaststroke; 50 Backstroke; 100m Medley. 2nd: 100m Backstroke. 3rd: 100m Breaststroke.

Jackson Arlidge 15yrs - 1st: 50m, 100m Backstroke; 400m Medley. 2nd: 200m Medley. 3rd: 50m Butterfly; 200m Backstroke.

Brendon Dimock 14yrs - 1st: 100m, 200m Medley; 100m

Backstroke. 2nd: 100m Breaststroke. 3rd: 100m Freestyle; 200m Breaststroke.

Scott Carr 14yrs - 1st 100m Butterfly.

Sophie Cooksley 10yrs - 1st: 50m Breaststroke. 2nd: 50m Freestyle; 50m Backstroke. 3rd: 50m Butterfly.

Rebecca Johnston 14yrs - 2nd: 100m, 200m Freestyle; 100m Backstroke; 200m Butterfly. 3rd: 50m Freestyle; 50m Butterfly; 50m, 200m Backstroke.

Dylan Arlidge 10yrs - 2nd: 50m Freestyle; 50m Butterfly; 100m Medley; 50m Breaststroke.

Ryan Cooper 10yrs - 2nd: 50m Backstroke. 3rd: 50m Freestyle; 100m Medley.

Alicia Jamieson 10yrs - 2nd: 100m Medley; 50m Breaststroke.

Dane Carr 16yrs - 2nd: 100m, 200m Freestyle. 3rd: 50m Freestyle; 50m, 100m Backstroke.

Brock Wilson 13yrs - 3rd: 200m Medley; 100m Butterfly.

Adrian Pitman 13yrs - 3rd: 100m Backstroke.

David Walsh and Andrew Dimock, 13yrs, both produced personal best times.

Squad members to be selected to represent Taranaki swimming for a six-way meet at Palmerston North on September 10 are Julian Weir, Dylan Arlidge, Brock Wilson, Dane Carr, Rebecca Johnston, Adrian Pitman, Jackson Arlidge and Ashley Rupapera.
