Stratford's Red Rebels senior team placed winner overall at the Mounted Games held in Stratford end of last month.

The Stratford pony club had two teams competing, with the juniors winning numerous categories and taking the 11 years-and-under trophy.

Seniors captain Aimee Schumacher, says the juniors - Liam Newton, Chloe Thompson (captain), Jade Egan and Maddison Dravitski - punched far above their weight giving some seniors a good run for their money.

For the seniors it all came down to the last event, the flag race, to be crowned king of the eight Taranaki teams. Competing.

Stratford was three points behind in the second to last event. They caught up, but had to quickly reshuffle when one of their top riders got stood on by her horse.

"We had to win the last race to beat the New Plymouth Knights."
