Shantelle Gosney of Eltham and her prize winning scones. Shantelle took away the trophy for the best cheese scones in the annual Great Eltham Cheese Scone Competition on Saturday. There were 70 entries in the contest, where scones were judged on taste, look, smell and texture by a panel of judges which included Kiwi Masterchef Brett McGregor. The top scones in the junior section was won by Stratford High School student Huia Brown (13). Shantelle’s secret was lots of cheese. The entry fee was a bag of self raising flour, which will go towards ingredients for a attempt on the world’s biggest scone later this month.
