Centre gets tick for teaching healthy food habits

An early childcare centre in Stratford has received a healthy heart award recognising the efforts the staff has made in creating healthy lunches for the children, as well as teaching them about health and involving them in making good choices.

Anne Berrie, Heart Foundation health promotion co-ordinator for the area, in presenting the award to staff and children at Rainbow ECE Centre on Miranda St, said cook Tesh Petroz, and centre manager Judy Brady had been a joy to work with. She commended their "willingness to take advice on board".

Anne brought along Heart Foundation mascot, Hearty Heart, to meet the children and to present them all with red heart-shaped balloons. Afterwards some of the children showed the Stratford Press their vegetable garden and talked about some of the healthy foods they enjoy eating at the centre.
