St Joseph?s School Stratford (white/blue) played a challenging game.

Central Taranaki schools outclassed and outplayed North and South Taranaki primary schools at the inaugural Taranaki Junior Hockey Tournament.

Held at the TET MultiSports Centre, 36 teams from across the region played 10-minute games in a round robin competition. There were three divisions: beginners, improvers and advanced, with the first two divisions playing on the turf and the advanced players tackling the inside stadium.

Hockey Rebels from North won the beginners' section against a determined Ngaere Blue.

Toko and Ngaere Development Teams drew first equal in the improvers' section and Ngaere Seniors won a well fought game against Pembroke Seniors in the advanced group.

Hosted by Taranaki Hockey, the committee hope to make the tournament an annual event.
