Celebrating 50 years of bowls

The Inglewood Division Jubilee Committee

The Inglewood Division Jubilee Committee

The Inglewood Division Indoor Bowling Club recently held its 50th Jubilee with around 170 enthusiasts enjoying a great get-together, dinner and prizegiving at the Kaimata Hall.

A special jubilee cake was cut by life members, Colin Drake, Olga Bailey and Syd Adlam. Thanks to the generosity of the Taranaki Electricity Trust, everyone appreciated and was able to take home suitably inscribed souvenirs in the form of wine glasses, beer handles and pens.

Over the years, the Division has grown from strength to strength, with 12 clubs in the Inglewood district joining the Division. However, in recent years with the amalgamation of small clubs etc, that number has dwindled to four.

Nevertheless, interest and progress is still strong and Inglewood has always been to the fore in North Taranaki securing many titles.

On this night also, life membership was bestowed upon Janette Brocklehurst (she was surprised!) in recognition of her sterling work over 15 years as Division Secretary. She has also put in a lot of work at North Taranaki level. Inglewood is proud of her efforts and dedication to the wonderful sport of indoor bowling.
