Water flooding on to Regan Street after a water main burst.

Stratford residents on Monday afternoon unexpectedly found themselves without water following a burst water main which flooded water at a rate of up to 900 cubic metres per hour onto Regan Street west.

The water main had been scheduled for an urgent shutdown for that evening following a reported leak.

The council's Director of Assets, Sven Hanne

said: "Contractors worked into the night to remove and replace the pipe.

"The focus then became reinstatement of the road surface and testing of the water supply to ensure that water quality remains suitable for household use."
