Medieval fighting was a highlight at Baldrick?s Big Day Out.

Hear ye! Hear ye! The biennial Baldrick's Big Day Out is to be held this Saturday.

In conjunction with the Stratford Lions Market Day, the Stratford Library Book Sale and the Stratford District Youth Council Busking Competition, another fairly stupendous Elizabethan family fun day is expected.

With ye good olde turnip tossing contest, best Baldrick, sauciest wench and raggediest urchin competitions, both young and old may enter.

Baldrick's Big Day Out 2007 promises to be bigger than ever, with the return of numerous medieval soldiers, the stilt walker and a hurdy-gurdy man.

To be held at King Edward Park on the corner of Fenton and Portia Streets, numerous activities will take place during the day.

Lots of stalls, plenty of arts and craft, a huge white elephant stall, the Stratford Lions train plus heaps more activities for children and entertainment will be there .

Also this year, the sonnet competition winner will be announced at 1pm and the crowd will certainly be entertained by the reading of a sonnet or two.

Baldrick will be up to his usual antics and the Queen will grace all with her presence. Jackson Kyle and his group will entertain periodically during the day.

The monster library book sale will be held in the Scout Hall, with hundreds of bargains. The book sale and market day will start at 9.30am. The money raised from the sale will help cover the administration costs of running the library.

The Stratford District Youth Council Busking Competition will begin at 11am, with entrants able to dance, sing or perform any special skill they have.
