WITH colder months drawing near, weddings seem to be less of a regular occurrence, but for those of you who are planning a winter celebration, try to think outside the box when it comes to choosing your flowers.
The Stratford Press spoke to local florist, April Watson, of Anna's Flowers, and discovered that a winter wedding holds interesting opportunities when it comes to beautiful bouquets.
"It used to be that you couldn't get certain flowers out of season, but now because everything is grown in glass houses, you have unlimited options all year round. A winter wedding gives you the chance to play around with a theme and get creative," said April.
"I find a lot of people like a sort of medieval look for winter bouquets, combining things like twisted willow, lots of greenery and berzelia, which are hard green berries. It adds an interesting touch to add things like small apples and make it a little bit different."
April goes by the adage, 'whatever goes' and finds that most couples have an idea of what they want come time to choose.
"Basically, it is up to the bride! Whatever the couple wants is always going to be the best thing. Anything can be used, and in winter, this equally applies. Twigs, vines, succulents the options are endless."
Winter often makes us think of bleak, grey months, but if you are celebrating your wedding during this time, make the most of it.
Take a bit of time to consider something a little different a bouquet of stunning foliage will be just as beautiful, if not more effective that something more traditional.
