MASTERCHEF New Zealand Brett McGregor visited Central Taranaki last week to judge Eltham’s cheese scone competition and to speak to various schools around the district.
Brett spoke of his time on Masterchef, along with the personal and professional challenges he faced in becoming New Zealand’s favourite reality TV show champion. However, the Christchurch schoolteacher said the biggest issue he faced was in having to leave his wife and six-year-old son for two-and-a-half months during filming of the show.
During a discussion with students from Stratford High School, Brett summed up his achievement well with a story about a note his father had left for him after he died. Brett said, “My dad left me a letter that said ‘live your bliss;’ in that he meant live your dreams and be all you can be”.
