LEARNING new gardening tricks at Hollard Gardens on Sunday are, from left, Karen Newbrook, Mark Garner, and Margaret Carvill with Hollard gardener Marilyn Phillips (right) showing them tips for organic, companion planting.
The first half of the free ‘Food Forest Workshop’ focussed on planting demonstrations, and during the second half those attending planted out a range of fruit trees, with complementary shrubs and flowers. Diversity was the name of the game, and about 70 people turned up for the hands-on gardening workshop, which covered the planning and preparation needed for a home orchard with a difference.
