THE historic Eltham Town Hall is having a facelift to prepare for the building’s 100th birthday next year.
Scaffolding is in place and the façade is being painted in colours that replicate the ‘brick and stone’ look which was designed by the original architects in 1911.
The colours are in line with a conservation plan that was designed for the building. The façade was last painted in 1993 as a community project.
Plans are underway for many centennial celebrations in 2011.
A committee has been formed and a programme planned for celebrations and activities that will include a different event every month during the year.
